The District Legal Service Authority has launched a Legal Service Management System to provide free legal services to weaker sections of the society. It has also opened its own blog to update its activities.
The system was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge K. Murali Shankar here on Saturday.
Briefing on the facilities and functions of the system, DLSA Secretary C. Vijaya Kumar said that a member of SC or ST, a victim of trafficking, a woman or mentally ill person, or differently abled persons, victim of mass disaster, ethnic violence, caste atrocity, floods, drought, earth quake, or industrial disaster an industrial worker and retired persons were eligible to avail themselves of the service.
Besides, persons in custody, including custody in protective home, juvenile home or psychiatric hospital or psychiatric nursing home and poor persons were also entitled to the free legal services, he added.
A petitioner could also apply through online for getting legal aid to any legal service institution in the country by filling up the application form available online. The application form has been divided into six parts such as legal aid application, legal aid, personal details, legal aid details, case details and attach document.
Users could change the medium of application form by clicking on Hindi or English button on top left side of the site. After submitting the form, user would get a diary number for future reference.
The applicants could also track their application and its status through diary registration number or his name or his father’s name. Filled application would be forwarded to respective authority for quick action.
Legal aid would be provided from the national to taluk levels service authorities including, state legal services authorities, district legal services authorities, taluk legal services committees, supreme court legal services committee and high court legal services committees.
After submission of application, it would be perused by the concerned legal services institution and would be sent to the parties concerned for further action, said Mr. Vijaya Kumar.
